The full FAR/AIM, in your pocket.
RegBrief is an iPhone and iPad app that puts the full FAR/AIM offline on your phone, with full-text search and on-device AI explanations, for pilots from student to ATP.
Built for the cockpit, the briefing room, and the night before your checkride.
What it does
The complete FAR/AIM reference, cross-linked and searchable, with AI explanations layered on top.
Look up a regulation offline
RegBrief bundles the full 14 CFR (49 aviation parts), 49 CFR Part 830, the AIM with color figures, 29 curated Advisory Circulars, and the Pilot/Controller Glossary. Everything downloads once and reads offline after that. No signal needed.
Search the entire library
A full-text keyword search reaches every part, section, and AIM paragraph at once. It's free on every tier, with no mode toggles or scope pickers. Type a few words, get matching regulation rows.
Study by certificate
Pick Private, Instrument, Commercial, CFI, ATP, Sport, or Remote Pilot and RegBrief filters to the FAA Airman Certification Standards for that certificate, with every Task element linking straight to the cited regulation, like 14 CFR 91.213(d).
Get a plain-English explanation
On Apple Intelligence hardware, Plus turns any section or highlighted passage into a two-to-three-sentence, plain-English explanation, generated entirely on-device. The regulation text and the explanation never leave your phone.
Ask a regulation question
Pro adds a cloud Q&A service: type a question in plain English and get an answer grounded in the bundled regulation text, with a citation back to the exact section you can tap to read.
Track what changed
Plus flags amended sections with an Updated badge and, on Apple Intelligence hardware, a plain-English “What Changed?” narration comparing the old and new text, so you're not re-reading a whole part to find one edit.
Four ways to find what you need.
Jump straight to a section number from Browse. Run a keyword search across the full FAR/AIM library. Ask plain-English questions** with citations. Read every regulation; Plus adds a plain-English RegBrief at the top.
Browse
Jump straight to a section number, a part, or any title fragment from the filter bar.
Search
Plain keyword search across the full FAR/AIM library — free for every tier, no mode toggles.
Ask Pro
Plain-English questions, answered with citations from the full FAR/AIM. Tap a reference to read the source.
Read
Free for every tier. Plus adds a plain-English RegBrief at the top of each section.
** Requires Pro.

Questions pilots ask
Does RegBrief work offline?
Yes. After the one-time content download on first launch, the full 14 CFR, 49 CFR Part 830, AIM, Advisory Circulars, and Pilot/Controller Glossary all read and search fully offline — no signal needed in the cockpit or a windowless briefing room. Only Pro's cloud Q&A needs a connection.
Is the FAR/AIM free in RegBrief?
Yes. The full regulation text, full-text search, study-by-certificate filtering, and reading history are free, permanently, with no account required. Plus and Pro add annotation tools and AI features on top of that same free library.
Does RegBrief include the ACS?
Yes. RegBrief ships the full FAA Airman Certification Standards for Private, Instrument, Commercial, CFI, and ATP, laid out as Areas of Operation and Tasks, with every cited regulation, like 14 CFR 91.213(d), one tap away in the Reader.
What's the difference between Plus and Pro?
Plus ($2.99/mo or $19.99/yr) adds bookmarks, highlights, notes, change tracking, and on-device Apple Intelligence explanations. Pro ($5.99/mo or $39.99/yr) includes everything in Plus plus cloud Q&A that answers a regulation question in plain English with citations.
Is RegBrief FAA-approved or official?
No. RegBrief is a study tool, not an FAA publication or a substitute for one. Content is drawn from public-domain U.S. government sources (eCFR.gov, FAA.gov) and updated periodically; for regulatory compliance, always consult the official source directly.
Does RegBrief update when regulations change?
Yes. A daily pipeline checks the eCFR feed for real amendments and republishes the content bundle when one lands. Plus subscribers see an Updated badge on changed sections and, on Apple Intelligence hardware, a plain-English explanation of what changed.
Does RegBrief require Apple Intelligence?
No, not for the core app. Full reading, search, and study-by-certificate work on any iOS 18+ device. The on-device explanations in Plus need iOS 26 and an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone or iPad; Pro's cloud Q&A works on any iOS 18+ device without that requirement.
Where the content comes from
- 14 CFR and 49 CFR Part 830 — eCFR.gov, the Office of the Federal Register's electronic Code of Federal Regulations
- The Aeronautical Information Manual, with figures — FAA.gov
- Selected Advisory Circulars — FAA.gov
- The Pilot/Controller Glossary — its own FAA publication
