Frequently Asked Questions
What content is included in RegBrief?
RegBrief includes the full 14 CFR (all aviation-relevant parts), 49 CFR Part 830 (NTSB accident reporting), the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM) with color figures, Advisory Circulars, and the Pilot/Controller Glossary. All content is bundled on-device and does not require internet access.
Does RegBrief require an internet connection?
No. All content is stored on your device after the initial download. You can search and read regulations in the pattern, at the FBO, or anywhere — with no internet required. The app may occasionally check for content updates when online, but this is not required for normal use.
What does RegBrief Pro include?
RegBrief Pro ($2.99/month or $19.99/year) unlocks unlimited bookmarks, highlights, notes, regulation change tracking, export, custom collections, and AI-powered features (plain-English explanations, natural language search, certificate-specific Q&A) on Apple Intelligence devices. The free tier gives full read access to all regulations with basic search.
What devices support the AI features?
AI features require Apple Intelligence — available on iPhone 16 and later, and M-series iPads and Macs, running iOS 26 or later. Pro subscribers on older devices still get all non-AI Pro features: unlimited bookmarks, highlights, notes, change tracking, export, and custom collections.
How current is the regulatory content?
Content is fetched directly from eCFR.gov and FAA.gov and updated with each app release. We monitor regulation changes weekly and release updates as needed. The app shows the effective date of the bundled content in Settings → About. Always check the in-app version date for critical compliance purposes.
Can I rely on RegBrief for legal or regulatory compliance?
RegBrief is a reference tool for educational and informational purposes. Always consult official FAA publications, eCFR.gov, or legal counsel for regulatory compliance decisions. The app is not a substitute for official sources and should not be used as the sole basis for operational decisions.
